Introducing the Sugar & Spice Children’s Market

Tell us a little bit about your market?
Sugar & Spice Children’s Market is a shiny brand new market located in beautiful Woodend, Victoria. The very first market will be on the 20th of June in St Ambrose Hall, from 10am – 2pm. Sugar & Spice will be then held every three months after that.

When/why did you start your market?
June 20th will be the very first one! I was inspired to start this market after attending Mathilda’s Market last year. I thought it was the most beautiful market I had ever been to but it was a bit of a trek for me to get to. So after thinking about it for a while I decided that mums in rural areas deserve to shop at lovely markets too without having to drive for hours on end! Woodend is the first step in my plan :)

What is the favourite part about running your market?
I am a control freak at heart, so being in complete control is great for me. The best part though would have to be meeting all of the lovely small business owners, they are a lovely group of ladies and are so supportive of the market.

Why do you love handmade so much?
I love hand made products because they are so unique not one of them is the same. My mother in law is a quilter and she often holds up her quilts and points out all of the “mistakes”. I personally like the imperfections; it is what gives the quilts their character. If I wanted something without personality then I would purchase something mass made in China.

Name 5 reason why your visitors should attend your market?
1. The top reason would have to be to come and support the fabulous makers at the market, they are all so talented!
2. The goody bags that we will be giving away to the first 100 shoppers who join our emailing list on the day. These beauties will be chock full of wonderful … well ….. goodies!!
3. To support Running the Marathon of Autism. All of the proceeds from running the market will be donated to this very worthwhile cause
4. It does get a little chilly in Woodend during Winter, but fear not St Ambrose Hall has ducted heating so it will be lovely and warm!
5. There will be free face painting for the kids and even Dad’s are catered for. There will be coffee, cupcakes (made by the amazing Cupcake Central) and some newspapers! All in the name of giving mum sometime to shop in peace and quiet!!

Visit the sugar and spice childrens market website for more information.

Next market: Sunday 20th June, Woodend Victoria.
