When I think of Christmas, the first thing that pops into my head are images of my Nanna's welcome little house for a breakfast of raspberries and toasted leg ham sandwiches. Then, my parents' house, with beautiful sprawling lawns & the same decorations I remember from childhood, my aunty's cottage perched on the hill, with cows in the paddock & a turkey in the oven... and the inlaws, for an outdoor seafood feast on their hobby farm by the river. Christmas is all about family for us, Christmas shared in homes that I love. With each turn of the calendar, the question pops up ...Where are we having Christmas this year? Christmas is without a doubt, the most magical time of year! And what I love the most is the opportunity to craft and sew, to create something special for the people I love. This is a lesson I learned from my mother. Every year Mum always made sure we had a brand new outfit to wear on Christmas day. I remember going through the pattern books and magazines with her to find something I thought was just perfect. And Mum would create these amazing pieces from just a picture or a daydream! Even if I didn’t always have the latest big thing at Christmas, I always felt special knowing Mum had created something unique and precious just for me. Whilst I can’t sew quite like my mother, I do try and create something special with my own kids. Or I shop handmade. I'm a self-confessed tree-hugger, and proud of it! I like nothing more than to sit in my garden watching the ladybugs hunt aphids, or to go hiking through rainforest with centuries-old trees towering above me, listening to the clicking of frogs in a nearby creek. I am passionate about protecting our Earth, so that future generations can still appreciate and experience the beauty, diversity and wonder of life that so many of us today take for granted.
For most of us, Christmas is a time when we think of our loved ones, family and friends. What better way to show we care about them, than to ensure they have a planet to sustain them for years to come?

For me xmas reminds me of my favourite time of year - summertime! Christmas day in my family usually ends with a delicious ice-cream desert as opposed to plum pudding and growing up we always spent summer by the beach. I love everything about summer and so it was an obvious choice of theme for my xmas gift guide.
